Our wedding, a family holiday

We want to make our wedding a holiday where a small group of our closest friends and family can spend enough time together to feel part of one family. Staying at a beautiful estate in the Scottish borders.

'Check-in' and get comfortable

Your assigned room

We're hopeful that our beautiful venue will be filled to the absolute brim.

You'll be assigned a room or cabin beforehand. We've seen the entire place and every room is characterful and comfortable with access to a kitchen, just check-in and relaaaaaax.

Potluck dinner

The Main House

We've both grown up with big family dinners being part of our lives. Thursday evening will be an opportunity for everyone to meet. Low-key wine, whiskey and home cooked food.

Enjoy the surrounds

Wedderlie House Estate

What to do
The estate is completely for our use, if the weather is nice, take a bit of a wander around or brave the cold and play some frisby golf/tennis.

There is also a foosball table, darts and more games in one of the barns. We'll bring some board games along, so you're welcome to relax in your accomodation or come over to the main house.

There are multiple castles nearby, some of them may be closed during winter, so it's worth trying to pre-arrange a tour. Yester Castle is a semi-ruin that's open at all times.
Yester Castle - 1 hour drive
Glenkinchie Distillery - 30 min drive - Booking recommended

If the weather's nice
Earlston Circular (8km moderate walk) - 25 mins drive

Pub lunch
The Golden Bannock - 15 mins drive
The Blackadder Bar & Restaurant - 15 mins drive

Takeaway in the main house

The Main House

We'll arrange an assortment of indian and pizza takeaway to keep things simple before the big day.

Ceremony

The Ceremony Barn

The ceremony will be held in the barn next to the main house, which will then spill over directly into the reception hall.

Dress Code
First and foremost, warm and cosy. Bring a coat! Expect overnight temperatures of ~1º.
For the guys - Suit/dinner jacket & ties preferred
For the ladies - Dresses and scarves.

🐨 Aussies joining us in Scotland: If you'd like to wear a kilt, let Tom know and he can help to arrange that.

Scottish Reception

The Reception Hall

Given it'll be quite cold, we'll be inside for ceilidh, music and plenty of wine! If the weather is nice, the fire pits outside will be the perfect place to cooldown between dances.

We would also love for you to join us in Perth, Western Australia for our Australian reception.

For the night-owls

The Main House

When it gets to 1.00am we'll retire with who's left to the main house for some quiet whiskeys.

Self-serve collection from the main house

The morning after

We'd love to chat and reflect on the wedding with everyone. We'll be providing everything you need to recover from the 2 glasses of wine you had the night before.

Check-out

All good things must come to an end

There is no rush to leave, we have the place till the end of the day giving everyone time to get back home or continue their travels comfortably.
